Ulverley School Reception to Year 6
Parents of children registered with the Local Health Authority receive an application form for places automatically during the Autumn Term preceding their admission to school. Children are eligible for Foundation Stage Two in the September following their fourth birthday. The Local Authority administers the allocation of places on behalf of the school. A full list of current admission criteria is included in the prospectus but is also available from the Local Authority or from our school office.
What are the admission criteria for places at Primary schools?
If a school receives more applications for its Reception classes than there are places available, places will be allocated in the following way:
- Priority 1 Looked after children and previously looked after children who are now adopted or subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order
- Priority 2 Children whose exceptional social or medical reasons can only be met by that particular school
- Priority 3 Children who normally live in the catchment area of the school and who would have a brother or sister at the school or the linked school at the time they start school
- Priority 4 Children who normally live in the catchment area of the school
- Priority 5 Children who would have a brother or sister at the school or the linked school at the time they start school
- Priority 6 Other children, measured in a straight line from the child’s home
What if I want to transfer mid- year?
Parents/carers of pupils requiring places in our school during a school year should apply directly to the Local Authority who allocate places and maintain a waiting list for each relevant year group on behalf of the school.
What are exceptional grounds?
Exceptional grounds are circumstances that can only be catered for by one particular school. These are reviewed on a case by case basis by the Head and Chair of Governors.
