Lateral Flow Testing
All primary school staff nationally have been invited to take part in mass asymptomatic testing for COVID - 19 using Lateral Flow Device Tests at home. This means testing staff who are not showing any symptoms of COVID-19. The government has stated that this is not mandatory and staff can opt in or out of this testing scheme. We have encouraged all of our staff to take part. These Lateral Flow Devices give a result within 30 minutes and I am pleased to say that our tests have now been delivered and are being distributed to our staff today.
All primary school staff across the country have been asked to test themselves twice a week at home. Robin Hood MAT has asked all staff taking part to test themselves at home on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, so that should a test result be positive, school would have an opportunity to seek advice and take appropriate actions to safeguard the safety of everyone in that bubble.
With the increase in the amount of staff testing we are now doing, there is a small chance that there could be an increase in the number of positive results. This may mean that your child’s bubble may have to close at short notice, or that your child may be taught by someone who is not their usual teacher. It may also mean that we have to suspend live remote lessons as we rearrange staffing to meet need. We will however continue to offer the recorded remote lessons.
At the moment, there are NO plans to test primary school children.
