Brains, Balance and Belonging: Helping children to thrive in a digital World

Parental Guides to Online Safety

We would strongly advise that all parents strictly follow all age related guidance and restrictions on all online content. Children should not be left alone with technology that allows them with unmonitored or unrestricted access to the internet. We believe that children of primary school age do not yet have the skills or experience to make the right informed and safe choices required by many online platforms. These skills should be gained in a more controlled environment.

In school, we provide this controlled environment through our Computing Curriculum and our filtering and monitoring systems.  Also, when a child logs into their school Google account on ANY chromebook, our filtering system automatically starts to monitor their usage, flagging up any concerns to school, wherever they are and whenever they are logged on!  It is still important for parents to monitor usage as during holidays it could be a few days before this is picked up by the school.

For more guidance and support with online safety, like those highlighted below, please go to National Online Safety for a wide range of advice.
